The basics

What is DMARC and why do I need it?
DMARC is a DNS setting that decides what happens to email claiming to come from your domain but not sent through your own systems. Without DMARC, anyone can send email in your organisation's name unhindered. With DMARC you get insight, and you can actively block abuse.
Can somebody really send email as though it came from me?
Yes. Standard email does not check who the sender really is. Fraudsters take advantage of this every day, for instance with fake invoices or phishing mails sent in the name of well-known organisations.
Do I set this up myself, or does DuzMarc do it for me?
You add a DMARC record yourself at your domain registrar or hosting provider. You get the exact value from us, DuzMarc, right after creating an account. If you get stuck, our support team will help you further.
What does it cost me to do nothing?
Doing nothing usually only costs you afterwards: email lost to spam filters, reputational damage from phishing in your name, or an audit asking for demonstrable email security. Monitoring on its own also carries no risk to your sending, because you always start with p=none.
I have no IT department. Can I do this myself?
Certainly. DuzMarc is built so that a dashboard, not an XML file, is the starting point. The signals that matter are explained in plain language, with concrete next steps instead of error codes.

Technology & implementation

What is the difference between rua and ruf reports?
Rua reports are daily, aggregated summaries: how much email, from which source, with what outcome. Ruf reports contain details of individual failed emails and are far from being sent by every provider. DuzMarc processes both types.
What about subdomains? What does the sp= tag do?
The sp= tag in your DMARC record sets the policy for subdomains specifically, separate from your main domain. That lets you put your main domain on reject while a test environment on a subdomain is still on none.
Does DuzMarc support multiple DKIM selectors and sending parties?
Yes. Most organisations use several sending services, think of an accounting package, a CRM or a newsletter system, each with its own selector. DuzMarc recognises known email vendors automatically and groups them clearly.
Can I combine several domains under one account?
Yes. Depending on your subscription you can add several domains to one account and report on each domain separately, with a combined overview at account level.

Privacy & security

Where is my data stored?
Entirely within the European Union, on servers inside the EU, backups included. No data is transferred to countries outside the EU.
Is DuzMarc Dutch DMARC monitoring, hosted in the Netherlands?
Yes. DuzMarc was developed by a Dutch company, Düzgün IT Services in Utrecht, and runs entirely on servers in the Netherlands. The rest of the chain, from the SSL certificate to the DNS resolvers, also stays within the Netherlands or the rest of the EU.
Do you use my data to train AI?
No. DuzMarc uses no artificial intelligence on your email data, and your data is never used to train models, ours or anyone else's.
What about two-step verification and team permissions?
Every account can switch on two-step verification. Administrators can invite team members with a role that matches their responsibility, from view-only to full management.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
After you cancel, your data is permanently deleted within a set period. You can export all your reports beforehand.

Subscription & billing

Can I switch subscription at any time?
Yes. Upgrading or downgrading is possible at any time and takes effect immediately. Nothing is settled pro rata; your next direct debit is based on your new subscription.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every subscription, from Starter to Enterprise, comes with a free 30-day trial and needs no payment method. If you set up a direct debit mandate before the trial ends, the subscription simply continues afterwards; without a mandate, access is suspended after the trial until you either set one up or cancel.
What happens if I receive more reports than my limit?
Reports above your monthly quota are not processed. If you are consistently over your limit, get in touch or upgrade to a subscription with a higher quota.
Can I cancel monthly?
Yes. All subscriptions can be cancelled monthly, with no long-running contract and no notice period.
